So we recently replaced a iMac Mid 2010 Hard Drive with a Standard Western Digital Black 7200 RPM, what you might not know about this is that - Apple HardDrives are not standard and are rewired for the thermal sensor in the machine. Then when replacing the hard drive, we had to get a replacement thermal sensor as well because its not wired the same as a Apple Hard drive. At the end of the day all is well and we managed to get the job done at a fraction of the cost, apple would have charged for OEM parts and installation. Having said that Apple will only do work on a machine that is under apple care and you cant buy parts directly from apple either. Apple will not do work on something out of warranty either .. long story short if you buy a machine from apple get apple care and keep it up to date. If you have a machine that needs a new hard drive we can do the work out of warranty.
